As you know we've been fixing all bugs that you guys found since UGP launch (which is a little over 2 weeks), though now it's almost done -- all major bugs have been fixed. So we decided to start improving the service and launch a minor update before the weekend. As you can see now, all your friends' avatars have been resized to 80x80px, which is much better than what we had before. Also, we will be adding some advanced background in the next couple hours. Private sections' "friends" will be changed today too.
Update: and yeah, no more animated avatars. whew Update#2: you can see if your friend is UG Team member too now

My previous blog entries were dedicated mostly to your reviews. So now I'm going to talk with you about Rejection Of Tabs.
I think everyone has already received the following message:

- We have a similar tab in the archives - There are too many versions of the tab already - It was inaccurate or not formatted - It was intro or solo tab while we already have tabs for the whole song

Let's analyse every item separately.
1. We have a similar tab in the archives.
Yes, there is a huge amount of duplicates you send us every day. Not everyone, but those vainglorious people who want to raise their UG Score by fair means or foul. In general, they just steal the tabs from other sites and submit them to us. And yes, they don't even search on UG to be sure there's no the same tabs! Although, there are some persons who just copy tabs from UG and submit them right here, with all our headers and footers! It's soooo stupid...
The other case -- you've submitted the same tab, but with some minor changes (really minor). Guys, just imagine: there's a tab, for the whole song, with all parts, BUT someone's found that there should be " --3h5-- " instead of " --3-5-- " in the intro part (yay!!), and THAT'S ALL! The other's found that there should be " --3-3-3-3-3-- " instead of " --3(x5)-- ", etc. etc. etc... And these persons copy the whole tab, change those parts and submit tab it in the hope that this "improved" one will be approved! Have to dissapoint you, guys. It won't be approved. Why? Because if I began to approve all these tabs -- it would be fucked up! 1,500 versions of Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water." If you don't agree with authors -- please PM, e-mail them or leave your corrections in comment section. That would be much better, trust me.
2. There are too many versions of the tab already.
Should I continue? I think you understand what I'm talking about. If you think that's your 1001st version of certain tab is vital important for us -- read the previous paragraph.
3. It was inaccurate or not formatted.
Yes, that's pretty often! Here are some examples: tab#1 , tab#2 , tab#3. That's just a little part, but it's illustrate the idea pretty detailed. If you're to lazy -- use our tab templates from submit page! And please check your tabs format before submitting.
4. It was intro or solo tab while we already have tabs for the whole song.
Should I say more? Oh, your intro "is 100% better than the others"? Read paragraph #1. Your tab is still better -- then send it over again.
Ok, I've hardly covered all the aspects, but I've tried to do my best. Fell free to discuss all that above, I'll be happy to hear you out. Thanks!
We've implemented "report abuse!" feature yesterday so you can report about
inappropriate content in blogs, pictures and copyrighted mp3s. Once clicked, please fill in the text form and put a reason for the report, so when mods read it they know why it was reported.
On a side note, i was upset to see how much copyrighted mp3s has been uploaded so far -- even though there is a language in red on mp3 uploading page "Please don't upload copyrighted music"
More updates to come soon, we are working on the more advanced comments section ATM, so you can see userpic of everyone who post a comment as well as quote his message.
Here are some major UG Profiles updates we've made recently.
1. New version of UGP Player -- more functional, better designed.
2. Bass Skills Section -- in the case you are bass guitarist you are now able to post your bass guitar skills and lead our Top Rated Bassists category!
I want to inform you that we've just make some upgrades of UG Profiles! They are not so significant, but they are a great features! Here they are:
1. "Select all" check box has been added to PM section (Inbox & Sent). Now there's no need to select all your 385 messages individually and then remove them or something. Hope it would be handy.
2. Now you're able to add (and edit) lyrics to your songs on UGP! Below are a shirt illustrated manual: 2.1. adding lyrics to the new song (User menu -> My Mp3s -> Upload New).
2.2. adding lyrics to the already aploaded song (User menu -> My Mp3s -> My Mp3s).
2.3. editing lyrics of already aploaded song (User menu -> My Mp3s -> My Mp3s).
Don't forget to save your changes!
3. We've slightly corrected the "Genres" field in all band profiles to keep them more organized and easy to search. Now there are 5 drop down menues to choose desirable and most appropriate genres. Please visit your band profiles and make changes if necessary.

Hey! I have some news once again. We've just implemented some cool new features. Here they are:
1. Advanced Search for tabs! It's only on the main page for betta testing now. There's a link "advanced" between our old search panel and 'submit your...' links block. See below:
Now there's an ability to search a certain tab by a certain band with certain type, rating and tunning. I hope this will be very helpful for you, UGers!
2. Preview Tabs. There's a new button "Preview Your Tab" on the tabs submitting page. You can use it to see how your tabs will look on the site. Works for Guitar tabs, Bass tabs and Chords.
3. Profile Views Stats. Now you're able to see the detailed views stats of yours or any other profile. Just move a cursor over word "stats." Images are below.
4. UGP Statuses! Now you're able to add your own status to your profile (max 30 symbols)! See below:
Hi there! I have some news for you once again. We've made some cool additions once again. Let's look at them:
1. Now there's a little text box on the friend request sending page. That means you have to write a short message that will be attached to your request for a friendship. Otherwise, you are not able to send a friend request!
2. Recent Profile Visitors. Finally we've completed this feature! You can view a list of your profile visitors for the past month (but limit is 100 users) on your private page. They are above a Friends section. Also, you can use an Invisible Mode for browsing UG Profiles. You just need to go to Account Settings, select "Use invisible mode...." and save your changes.
3. Quote and Answer! Well, now there's an ability to quote any comment anywhere on UG Profiles, the same feature as quoting on General Site and Forums. What is Answer? Answer is a feature that gave you a possibility to post a comment directly in a profile of user that has posted a comment in your profile. It looks like a PMs. I know it doesn't make sense, so I'll try to describe it.
Let's imagine. 2 users: Carmel_l and me. Carmel has posted a comment in my profile: "Hey, how's everything? <3" What should I do? I have to go to her profile and post a comment "Everything is great! What about you?" Then Carmel has to go to my profile and post there "All is good! <3" And so on... But now there's no necessity to go to others profiles. Just click a grey link 'answer' under the comment you want to answer, the system will move you to your text box with a notification "Your comment will be posted.... blah blah blah..." and a quoted comment of the user you want to answer. Then enter your text and press "Post a comment" button. And that's all! The comment will be posted on the user's profile, but you will stay on your own page.
4. We changed a status addition form a little! Now it's dark.
5. Individual Advanced Search page. Here it is, the link "advanced" on the main page gives you this page. We added some useful tips and quick searches. Check it out!
