Nawwww. Asbestos is essentially free-floating particles, i.e. dust. Therefore, asbestos should be able to enter their bodies through ears, mouth etc. And given that they are unable to secrete mucus and such, once it enter the body, especially in high volumes, it should be effective.

Interesting thought though, this would imply that nerve affecting chemical warefare could be effective.

I'm telling you, as Brooks explains in the guide, chemical warfare is ineffective unless it is like acid dissolving their brains or what not. Asbestos in their ears or mouth would not reach their brain and therefore not be a problem.
By all means try it if you feel confident, but while you are dusting a horde of zombies with asbestos dust, most likely inhaling a bunch yourself, I'll be swiftly executing them with a machete, and bow and arrow.

Actually, I would have thought that asbestos could be somewhat effective. Am I right in saying that there would be living cells (to some extent) inside the brain? I'E, the motor neuron cells that drive our functions? In which cae asbestos, which causes cancer, can be fairly effective, as cancer isnt a disease, its a genetic mutation in the DNA codons.

yes, that's all and well, but the point is that the lack of blood flow would prevent any inhalation or contact with asbestos from reaching the brain in the first place. Unless you were to try and inject it right in their brain, but in that case is would be much simpler to slice its head off with a machete.

And to the newest members of the alliance, welcome!

hey! nice group! made a Zombie Apocalypse Survival Club but this group is so way better! :haha:

No, because all that remains in a zombie's bloodstream is congealed blood.
Since there is no blood flow, there is no way for any type of disease to set in.

If you read the ZSG, Brooks outlines how biological warfare and other things of that nature are of no use in combating the undead.

A zombie does not require oxygen, food, or sustenance of any type.

So a zombie, chained to a 5000kg diamond pike, on the moon, completely alone, could (theoretically) live forever?
Theoretically yes they could, but how a zombie got on the moon baffles me.

Zombies CANNOT use chainsaws!

Resident Evil is a video game. This is real life, people.
The zombies in Resident Evil didn't use chainsaws. The chainsaw enemies in RE4 weren't zombies either.

In your particular case, yes, destroying the entire flight of stairs would take a long ass time. i wouldn't reccomend the whole stair-demo idea in general unless you didn't have much other choice.

LazyLatinoRocke wrote on Dec 2nd, 2008 4:22am

What about if the stairs are like this? http://www.adamsconstructionco.com/images/Grieser_ Staircase.jpg
Wouldn't it take a while?

Megalomaniac16 wrote on Dec 1st, 2008 2:07am

Yes, they do go into some detail about how to do it.
Fire and explosives aren't the best options... yeah, just don't do them at all.

Depending on what the stairs are made out of, then an axe or sledgehammer or some other type of heavy demolition utensil will do the trick.

LazyLatinoRocke wrote on Nov 4th, 2008 4:24am

So I finally got The Zombie Survival Guide :). I have been reading it non-stop and one question has got me though. They talked about destroying the stairs so zombies can't get to you but how do you do that? They haven't talked about that (or I didn't get to it). I'm sure you're not to use explosives to avoid fires or destroying your home.

No... no... they aren't like a race of people that we hate... its a virus.

Thats like saying taking antibiotics for the flu is discrimination towards the flu virus.

he's got a point... zombies are mindless beings. they technically aren't people.
